Secret Ingredient Cookery Ltd Terms & Conditions  

1 Contract

1.1. These terms and conditions constitute a legally binding contract between you as the student, any guarantor (eg, parent or guardian) and Secret Ingredient Cookery.

1.2. This contract is governed by English law.

1.3. No failure or delay by  Secret Ingredient Cookery in enforcing any of their rights under the contract shall be deemed to be a waiver of such a right. 

2. Bookings & Cancellations

2.1. We reserve the right to change the timing and/or content of any course.

2.2. If we have to cancel a course, or part of a course, we will always give you as much notice as we reasonably can. We will endeavour to offer you the choice of an alternative course, or repayment of any fees received in respect of the course or part of the course that has been cancelled. We regret that we cannot be liable for any other expenses you may incur.

3. Fees & Refunds

3.1. Payment for any course must be made in full and in advance.

3.2. Once you have booked and paid for your course, we regret that no refunds can be given except in the instances outlined in 2.1 and 2.2, above.

4. Allergies, Dietary Restrictions & Special Needs

4.1. If you (or the child in your care, if they are the participant) have any allergies, dietary restrictions, medical needs or learning difficulties, please speak to Secret IngredientCookery before you book and pay for a course. This information will be treated with the utmost discretion.

    5. Copyright

    5.1. Secret Ingredient Cookery will provide students with a copy of the recipes used for each course. These are copyrighted and intended only for your personal use, and they may not be reproduced for any commercial purpose.

    6. Filming, Photography & Image Sharing

    6.1. If we wish to share a photograph or video of you (or the child in your care, if they are the participant) that you have shared with us for any of the purposes outlined above, we will have sought your prior permission, or otherwise, on the Booking Form. We will only ever use a first name, and no other personal information will be revealed.

    7. Communications

    7.1. We use email to communicate with participants following our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Off to University and all other online courses. The participant’s parent or guardian will be asked at the time of booking to consent to us communicating in this way with the young person in their care, if they are under 18 years of age.

    8. Indemnity

    8.1 Secret Ingredient Cookery will not be liable for any loss suffered by you that is indirect, special or consequential, or that results from any event beyond our reasonable control.

    8.2. You are advised to take out insurance against the loss of fees or incurring of expenses as a result of illness, personal accident, force majeure or cancellation of a course.

    9. Complaints

    9.1. Please raise any complaint about a course or other matter immediately with Secret Ingredient Cookery who will address it promptly and proactively so as to find a solution that is agreeable to all parties.

    10. Guardian & Parent Responsibility

    10.1 Online course participants who are under the age of 18 years need to have a supervising adult whilst cooking the recipes. Prior to commencing the course both participant and supervising adult have to agree to adhere to our food hygiene and knife safety information which we send with receipt of payment.

    About this policy
    This policy explains when and why Secret Ingredient, collect personal information about our students and how we use it; keep it secure and attendee rights in relation to it. We will collect, use and store personal data, as described in this Data Protection Policy when people sign up for one of our courses or workshops.
    Specific use and sharing of personal information
    Your personal data will be used for the purposes of course attendee management and your email and telephone numbers will be used for communication about your course and for distributing general information. Where necessary, your personal data may be shared as follows:
    Where an organisation accredits a course – such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s award
    Where transaction data is required by our payment service provider.
    Where we have a legal obligation to do so.

    Data processed as a requirement of managing course attendees

    We collect the following type of information:
    Name
    Address
    Email address
    Phone number
    Allegies
    Any other relevant information

    For the following reasons:

    To make sure classes are suitable and safe for you
    To communicate with you during online courses
    To process payments and bookings
    To keep a record of all course attendees
    To use your information for market research and updating of social media
    To send you any information that may be of interest to you

    Students under 18 yrs

    Parents or guardians signing the consent form are giving their permission for the data to be used as described elsewhere in this policy.
    How we protect your personal data
    The Data Controller will process attendee information electronically and hold all information on a database on a secure computer. Paper copes of data will be held at the data controller’s house in a secure cabinet.

    Accuracy & retention of data

    Each course attendee is responsible for keeping Secret Ingredient Cookery informed of changes to their data throughout the duration of the course (e.g. telephone number etc.) and you are at that time authorising Secret Ingredient Cookery to hold such data on file. The data is kept on file for up to 7 years.
